Ambassador Wines of Washington, Woodinville (Dec 2022)

Ambassador Wines of Washington sources from their 3 Red Mountain estate vineyards - Ambassador, Sunset, and Annex Vineyards.

They have a beautiful Woodin Creek tasting room, with ample space. At the end of 2022 we decided to get a taste.

Ambassador Wines of Washington

The tasting notes are from the winemaker:

2019 Sauvignon Blanc

80% Sauvignon Blanc 20% Semillon

Lovely golden hue. Clean, with hints of lemon custard, honeycomb and sassafras; a touch of vanilla, with peach and mango. Grapefruit-zesty palate, fleshy pear and a touch of green tea. Long-lasting clean flavors on the finish.

Price $22

Rating 4.4

2019 Estate Attache

55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot

Blackberry, baked apple, with red strawberry/rhubarb fruit aromas. Nice balance, some grain, sesame notes in a tangy, rich almond and mineral flavor. Rich and generous with a long finish and promising future.

Price $28

Rating 4.5

2019 Estate Minister

77% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon

Initially closed in, but opens to a sour cherry, metallic, mineral, graphite, and cool fruit. Clean lines, spicy mid-palate, tangy, and flinty. Leathery, earthy, muscular impressions.

Price $45

Rating 4.3

2015 Estate Cabernet

90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot

Dark red color with a lively garnet hue. Dark berry fruits, cassis, a hint of aged leather, earth and exotic mixed spices and light graphite. This wine is rich, lush and full of interesting complexity that you can only get from a Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon.

Price $65

Rating 4.5

We were impressed by Ambassador wines. We purchased the 2019 Estate Attache which was an absolute steal at $28 for a everyday wine with massive fruit and has holding potential. The 2015 Estate Cabernet was also excellent.

We also really enjoyed a bonus pour of their Plenipotentiary Estate Syrah 2019 and felt it rated 4.5.

I will definitely be revisiting Ambassador at their next release!
